Eclectic style that brings a smile

When I first started my Etsy site, MynisaUnique, a friendly lady from Colorado purchased about 6 necklaces. Largest order I had ever had to date – needless to say I was ecstatic! Not only did she purchase the necklaces, she started a conversation with me via the site and asked if I could make some additional necklaces from her own materials. Not only did she pay me for my time, she shipped me some awesome pieces as a gift for me to incorporate into my own work.

This necklace is made from one of those pieces. Lapis and sterling silver – and I simply love it. Forever greatful for her generosity!

Vintage style wedding jewelry with a modern twist!

I recently created this unique piece where I combined bronze chain and white and off white beads. This ensures a perfect match no matter what shade of glorious white you are wearing 🙂

You can see this piece at RenovatedRetro on Etsy!

Below is my beagle, Maggie May, helping with the design process 🙂 hehe!

Repurposed Statement Necklace with Vintage Beads

Created from an elegant purple strand of beads. I added newer lucite beads to create a compilation of light and dark violet hues.
The necklace is 18.5 inches long and fastens with a lobster clasp behind your neck; matching earrings are 2 inches in length.

This necklace can be found at my etsy shop  RenovatedRetro

Vintage Style Floral Statement Necklace

Loving this piece I made for my etsy store, MynisaUnique

Absolutely in love with this piece! It will accentuate any neckline to dress up or down any daytime or evening look!

The necklace is adjustable from 17.5 inches to 21 inches and fastens behind your neck with a lobster clasp.

A Peak into My Process

I have been making jewelry for several years now and over time you accumulate bits and pieces that are leftover from previous projects. I love being able to create designs using these and other pieces I have found over the years. I started RenovatedRetro as a place where I can sell these unique pieces along with pieces that have been upgraded from their previously owned state.
When it comes to thinking up a crafty design, I am often inspired by jewelry trends that I see on Pinterest, something that my friend has worn, or simply by browsing stores at the mall. My takeaway is generally “Hey, I can do that”- but with a twist!

Last night I completed a design that is similar to something my friend was wearing the other night. I used these bits and pieces that had been leftover and brought similar tones and textures to create this one of a kind piece.

I attached these left over chains to the large gold pendant and evened out the length to where all chains fell the same. I used jump rings and pliers to do this. I also made my own beaded chain to attach as an additional piece of flare.

Once completed, a rather cool, vintage style piece emerged that I was quite pleased with.

Often times I fall short of the amount of chain to make the necklace the length I desire. In this case I used some cool links and additional beads to extend it to the 28 inches I preferred.

When the necklace is 25 inches or longer I generally refrain from messing with adding a clasp.

I am very pleased with the finished Necklace and hope to make similar designs soon! You can take a look at the rest of my work on ETSY at MynisaUnique and at RenovatedRetro.

I’m Cleaning out my Closet

From the beginning I have been an avid online shopper – and seller. Starting with EBay, I basically funded my shopping addiction through rotating out items I no longer wear.

The past few month I have been using a couple apps that I have had much success on.

Poshmark has become my go-to app for selling items. It creates a community of sellers and you can follow other sellers with similar likes and interests. There are multiple ways to gain exposure, but it really just comes down to of your item fits the search criteria of the individual searching 🙂
Vinted is another app, quite similar to Poshmark, without all the bells and whistles – and is a bit more detailed when it comes to items descriptions since you can utilize hashtags and etc. to highlight the item you are selling.
Nevertheless – if you like good deals and just good old haggling and bartering – you will quickly become a fan of these apps as I have.
Happy Shopping!!
